SEAFER HOTEL, OFFICE & RETAIL COMPLEX, SURABAYA, INDONESIA 1991
The fast growing Surabaya city in Indonesia held a competition for a multi use concept design set amongst a tropical landscape. Developed for Yamashita Sekkei Inc. the proposal incorporated a 400 room Hotel, 15,000 sq.m of Office, Department Store/ Shopping complex, Sports and recreation facilities and housing condominiums. The aim was to vitally contribute to the cities development with the scheme located in a park surrounds to create a new ‘Urban Environment’.
Various elements of the city were assembled such as buildings, transport, networks, technology, landscaping to form a new built environment of associative design that responded to perceptions of a future focus for Indonesia.
