The proposed renovation enables and enhances the existing Art Deco style of the original house (c . late 1920’s) which includes an upper-level extension completed around 2005 by Cocks and Carmichael architects. The new works provide cohesion between the original architecture and later additions, ensuring a more unified and refined overall expression.
The ground floor works focus on a full renovation of the En Suite bathroom and adjoining walk-in robe. A classically styled exposed-frame double basin vanity, paired with a complete set of traditional tapware, functioning seamlessly for modern lifestyles. The floor and wall tiling incorporate salvaged original tiles, complemented by new matching tiles laid in a reinterpreted pattern suited to the updated layout. A new fluted glass shower screen introduces texture and elegance while referencing the decorative motifs of the Art Deco era. The walk-in robe features full timber veneer open robes, providing functional luxury within a warm, tactile palette.
The first floor kitchen is entirely renovated to serve as a refined and calming space. A restrained material and colour selection ensures a subtle contrast and complements the existing timber flooring and joinery in the adjacent living area.
An external lift is introduced to enhance accessibility without compromising the home’s aesthetic integrity, lining up with the vertical emphasis typical of Art Deco forms. External works include a newly designed brick rendered and steel fence in a bespoke Art Deco pattern, new landscape to rear garden, a new screen concealing the pool equipment neatly, new solar panels and battery system, and the re-tiled pool surface for a clean, refreshed look that complements the overall renovation.
